A high water bill is one of those things that's easy to ignore at first. You figure it's the heat, maybe you watered a little more than usual. But when the numbers keep climbing and nothing explains it, your sprinkler system is usually worth a closer look.

That's exactly what brought us out to this homeowner. Something was off underground - water was being lost somewhere in the main line, and they had no idea where. We dug into the valve box, traced the issue, and found the culprit. A cracked fitting on the main line that had been quietly leaking, probably for a while.

Here's the thing about these kinds of failures - they don't announce themselves. A cracked PVC nipple buried in the ground isn't going to spray water across your yard like a broken head would. It just bleeds water slowly, runs up your bill, and waits for someone to go looking. That's why irrigation system repair calls like this one are so common. The problem is real, it's just hidden.

Once we had the damaged fitting out and the main line exposed, we could see exactly what we were dealing with. New hardware went in, connections were secured, and we ran the system through its zones to make sure everything was performing the way it should. Clean repair, no shortcuts.

If your water bill has been creeping up and you can't figure out why, don't overlook your irrigation system. A small underground issue can waste a serious amount of water before it ever gets noticed. Getting eyes on it sooner rather than later is almost always the smarter move.
